When searching for a cellular phone service provider, there are numerous things to consider in addition to cost and among them are reliability of the service as well as the variety of phones available for use. Not every cellular phone service provider is created equal and neither are the phones they offer for use on their network.

Each provider might have a special offer to reel in new customers with numerous ones offering varied deals to draw in a wide-ranging kind of user. Developing their niche market in the industry a cellular phone service provider might, for instance, offer a huge amount of minutes in their plan and then skimp on other services such as roaming calls or in-network benefits.

A person who is on the phone frequently might not worry about music downloads or streaming video capabilities, and a cellular phone service provider that makes available a ton of minutes for a sensible monthly fee, might be appealing to them. Another cellular phone service provider who charges more for a similar number of minutes, but also makes available a sensible cost on audio downloads might draw in a varied user who utilizes their phone with a built in music player.

Examine Contract Before Long Term Commitment

Despite their length and complexity, it is always to your benefit to read your contract with the cellular phone service provider as once it is signed you are committed to the relationship for anywhere from one to two years. In addition, if you choose afterwards that alterations are required to your service, the contract is normally extended just to make those adjustments.

This extra length to your contract makes it crucial to cautiously consider the service level you are signing up to get before you begin the contract. Make certain you recognize what you are receiving prior to signing on the dotted line. Your cellular phone service provider ordinarily will not accept that you did not understand the contract when you signed it as an excuse to end your contract early without a sizeable cancellation charge.

The types and fashions of phones available through each varied cellular phone service provider might change and the type of phone you want might be a determining element in which cellular phone service provider you select. While numerous phones might look to be similar, quite a few are linked to a specific service provider through their inner electronics and might not work with a differing service provider.

So it’s time for a new cell phone, your old one isn’t what it used to be. How do you decide which phone to buy? Are some cell phone deals better than others? Is there a carrier you should avoid? Here’s what you need to know before you buy your new cellphone.

Keeping your number is probably very important to you. Most people don’t like to change their cell phone number and alot of people don’t realize they can keep their cell phone number when they find a new cell phone deal. Luckily number portability is the law – as long as you still have the old number you should be able to take it with you even if you switch to a different carrier. So if keeping your number is important to you then contact your existing carrier to make you sure you can keep it.

View – Figure out how to turn your cell phone to silent/vibrate (nobody wants to hear ‘My Boo’ or ‘Drop it Like It’s Hot’ because you can’t operate your phone).

Before you decide which phone is right for you find out which cell phone carriers have good reception where you live. If you live in a big city you can usually choose any of the major carriers. Don’t look at coverage maps. Coverage maps are basically a marketing ploy. Instead, ask people who live and work in your area which carriers have the best reception. Don’t sign up with a carrier unless you know that they provide good reception in the places where you spend most of your time. This includes your home, work, business trips, and vacation destinations.

Cell phones are in fact just an advanced version of the old walkie-talkies we all came to love as kids and are not always going to have 100% perfect reception. And, when the cell phone salesman at the local dealer is about to close his sale the last thing he is going to do is wreck it by telling you that the local mall is a dead zone! (an area where cell phone has poor or no reception)

View – Increase in expenses: -Greater the number of cell phones in a home greater is the bill. Children don’t care about how much their parents will pay for their luxuries, they are careless and don’t most of them have sense of responsibility.

We have found that if you question a cell phone sales man about dead zones and coverage they will try their best to give you an honest answer and hand you a coverage map. The worst case scenario is after you’ve signed a one or two year contract, you then go home, or to your office or on vacation only to discover the new service plan you’ve just signed is worthless because you have no coverage.

Unfortunately, you realize too late that most of the places you make your calls from are dead zones, so much for the carrier coverage map. A good tip is to always try out a friend’s phone in the places where you talk the most!

Also remember that most carriers will give you 2 weeks to 1 month to try out your coverage before you get locked into a new cell phone deal and contract. Use this time span wisely, trying out your new phone in key spots and if there are any problem do not hesitate to contact your new carrier and if need be cancel the contract. Do not be timid, most of us learn by trial and error. Better to find out sooner rather than later and be locked into a contract you can’t get out of.

View – Do not use cell phone batteries and cell phone charges that are not compatible with your exact cell phones. Be sure if you buy a charger from the store that you have bought the correct one.

If credit cards have supplementary cardholders who can share the credit limit, cellular phone plans also offer shared plans more commonly known as family plans. This type of plan offers the sweet promise of value for money for as small an amount as $10 to $20 more per month that a single subscriber is used to shell out.

The value lies in providing two lines of cellular service combined with the newest cellular phone deals usually offered for free. Other freebies include cellular phone accessories such as belt clip, hands free headset, in-car chargers and more. Cash back rebate incentive programs are also offered. Since these usually have to be claimed by a specific date, it is always advised to review the rebate information.

Basically, the allotted minute allowances are shared between the subscribers. However, modifications on this notion have been introduced by companies. This is the reason why it is important to read the details of the family plans offered very carefully.

There are five leading cellular companies that offer family plans, namely, Verizon’s Family Share, Cingular’s FamilyTalk, Sprint’s PCS Family, T-Mobile’s Family Time and Nextel’s Team Share.

Verizon has the unlimited Night and Weekend home airtime minutes when calling a cellular phone that is also on the Verizon Wireless Network. Night hours start at 9:01 PM to 5:59 AM on Weekdays. On Weekends, it starts at 12:00AM Saturday to 11:59PM Sunday.

Cingular offers Rollover Minutes. This refers to the buildup of unused minutes which can be used on the following months. This expires after a year. This is a great deal because it is often difficult to track the number of minutes consumed in a month. Rollover minutes will certainly maximize the value of money spent because the unused time can still be consumed within a year.

View – If you already have an account with a particular cell phone carrier, shop at their stores and keep an eye out for certain cell phones that they might be promoting. These cell phones will be on offer and you can get some great deals on them.

Sprint has the capability to take advantage of its nationwide fiber optic network through the PCS Fair & Flexible America. Long distance calls are free when the calls are made on its nationwide PCS network. It is always a drawback on the budget to incur long distance charges. This offer is very convenient for business people who are always traveling.

T-Mobile has the Nationwide Digital Roaming. This prevents the consumer from obtaining expensive roaming charges on calls within its national coverage network. Calls between T-Mobile to T-Mobile have unlimited minutes and doesn’t consume the family monthly allotted minutes. This is a very sweet offer because on top of the monthly minutes that can be made on calls on other networks, one can certainly take advantage of the unlimited minutes for calls that need more time for idle talk without being pressured to cut talk time because of expenses.

View – If you travel a fair bit, then get a regional mobile phone plan. It’s a great cell phone deal because regional plans have the best mixture of minutes and features, with the best prices.

Nextel also offers Free Nights and Weekends. This corresponds to Mondays to Fridays at 9:00 PM to 6:59 AM and Fridays at 9:00 PM until Monday at 6:59 AM. The Group Connect service links a group of up to 25 people on a single call without consuming the allotted cellular allowance for the month. This is similar to having a conference real-time without expending the allotted time.

It is always wise to review the details of the plans offered by such companies before availing of one. The only setback of such plans, especially those that offer rebates and free cellular units, is that one may be tied up to a year or two contracts which are difficult to disregard as easily

View – Find ways to reuse or recycle your phone and accessories when you’re finished with them. Many companies recycle or reuse cell phones.
